The Dhol, is a percussion instrument used in many varieties of Indian classical and folk music. It’s primary origin is in the Punjab region of northern India but has spread across South Asia. The dhol drum has a very typical shape with animal hide or vinyl applied to the top (side down). It is traditionally played by one drummer known as dholkiwala but can be performed by numerous drummers at weddings and other celebrations.
